Shower head legionella bacteria riskShowers at a Sports and Social Club owned by Ongar Town Council were closed after a health and safety survey found them to be at “high risk” of Legionella bacteria.

The issues were found in a health-and-safety survey undertaken after the town council changed its insurance company. It had not been keeping a logbook of when the showers were cleaned. The council has now implemented such a system, a specialist contractor has been appointed to disinfect the showers and quotes have been obtained for new water tanks.
