This year marks the 40th anniversary of the fateful 1976 annual Legionnaire’s conference, where thousands of veterans met at the Bellevue Hotel in Philadelphia and many fell sick with what is now known as Legionnaires’ Disease and 34 died.
In addition, twenty five years ago the ACoP L8 was first introduced and fifteen years ago this year, HBE started their work in Legionella control. Over these years, as an industry, we have learned much about Legionella bacteria and control measures.
In addition, many clients are now educating themselves about their responsibilities and control measures for water borne pathogens. The last two years have seen record numbers of clients undertaking legionella awareness and the BOHS proficiency exam for legionella management.
