LEV Air Quality Local Exhaust ventilation HBEA Wood Flour Mill has ground to a halt after the UK’s HSE issued two prohibition notices.

Following the fatal explosion at a Wood Flour Mill last month, the UK’s HSE, as part of the on-going investigation, has served two Prohibition Notices (PN) on the mill owners, in relation to dust issues within the sheds.  These notices effectively prevent the mill from operating until the issues have been resolved.

The BBC has reported that the Mill had a further two site fires in 2010 and 2012.  The plant processes wood into a fine powder known as “wood flour”, with a consistency like sand, which is used to make laminate flooring.
