HBE LegionellaA further two cases of Legionnaires’ Disease have been confirmed in the Renfrew area of Scotland. This brings the total number of confirmed cases to ten, since the cluster was identified last month.

The health board said its work with partner agencies had still to identify a possible source for the infection. All the water cooling towers in the area have been chemically treated and in line with national guidance, a number of towers had been sampled for the legionella bacteria.

In a similar situation to last year’s outbreak, the Health Board have yet to identify the source.
