Orange County health officials have identified the iconic Disneyland Park as a common location for nine of the Legionnaires’ Disease cases reported during September, however an additional three cases had not visited the park.

The Disneyland Park has since informed health officials that their investigations found elevated levels of Legionella bacteria in two of its 18 cooling towers, which were then treated and disinfected.

CNN reported that health officials have issued an order to ensure that the affected Disneyland cooling towers remain shut down until they are verified to be free from contamination.

It is however not confirmed whether these cooling towers were the source of the twelve cases of Legionnaires’ Disease, or whether other sources, yet to be located by health officials, are responsible.
